Congratulations to our 2018 HOCO GRAND MARSHALS!
Brian Henson goes above and beyond for his students and our school district. He fills many different roles, and he does each one of them with dedication and professionalism. Brian is the sponsor of the SkillsUSA Career and Technical competition teams. Brian is responsible for attending meetings, registering students for competitions, making travel arrangements as well as helping the students to better develop their skills to be competitive. These teams compete against other similar teams at the state level and also the national level. Brian has been instrumental in our students’ success, including seven national medalists and two national championship teams over the past five years. He is a hardworking and exceptional teacher for our Graphic Arts Department and inspires students every day to do their best and to produce quality work. Brian also helps our school and our community by designing and printing signs and shirts for a variety of fundraisers such as the Special Olympics, the Sikeston Public Schools’ Foundation 5K Run. Over the last three years, Brian has provided the shirts for Missouri Delta Medical Center’s Pink Out campaign, helping raise nearly $20,000 for the American Cancer Society. Brian has sacrificed a large amount of his personal time to help the students of the Sikeston Career and Technology Center and the surrounding community.
Gina has served in the Sikeston R6 School District for the past 19 years. All 19 of those years have been spent at Lee Hunter Elementary. She has taught 1st and 4th grade and is currently a Title I/Remedial Reading Teacher. She has a servants heart and is your 2017 Educator of the Year! Gina has always been super involved in the school system, and will always put the welfare of the students above anything else.
Please help me congratulate two very deserving and hard working people. It takes special people like Brian and Gina to make this District great! Thank you both for everything you do!!! It doesn’t go unnoticed.
